wallstreet and 256mb ram modules

In June 2003, I replaced two Ram modules (64mb/128mb) with two 256mb 
modules from OtherWorldComputing (OWC) for my wallstreet g3 
powerbook, and had been having a lot of freezes in both OS X and OS 
9.  I tried everything I could think of to try to fix the problem 
(including many OS X repair utilities), but couldn't figure it out (I 
assumed it was just an unfixable software problem).  I just last 
friday swapped out the two OWC Ram modules (after reading on this 
forum that the wallstreets don't behave well with more than the apple 
recommended 192mb max), and put in the old 64/128 modules, and the 
freezing stopped (48 hours without a system freeze).

OWC is currently going to replace these modules with new ones, but 
I'm wondering if there are other wallstreet owners that have this 
configuration working at present.  Being bad ram is really not easy 
to test for (someone correct me if there is a reliable test 
available), and that OWC says these modules work in the wallstreet, 
perhaps also some people like me who have been scratching their heads 
and thinking the problem was software related (which is what I 
thought).
