I was aware of the second two problems actually.

That doesn't quite work. After all you didn't buy a faulty product from me.
I didn't either, but my family has to deal with the faulty product they paid
$2.5k for so I definitely have a right to complain about it.

Despite all the arguments you brought up for it not being a known issue, the
fact of the matter is that to a lay person it was. When there's news reports
on the issue it certainly is a "known issue". If they had declined to
comment, or said that they hadn't determined whether it was a design flaw or
not then they wouldn't be in the position of having lied, and made some
customers very unhappy with the issue.
