I'm using 2x256= 512.  I've just taken other people's word on it
being the max you can use.  It's working great for my Wallstreet.

If you're going to buy RAM buy it from Crucial.  It's got to be one
of the best 3rd party manufacturers among Mac users.  They also have
a great web site that walks you through simple steps to make sure you
are buying the right RAM for your computer.  

Don't cut corners on RAM, it could cause all kinds of problems.
