Hi, my name's Marcin Wichary and this is my first post here,
although I know other LEM lists (mainly for the vintage Lisas/Macs).

I'm thinking of buying a brand-new PowerBook, which would be my
first Macintosh ever (after 15 or so years of wanting one!). Would
here be a good place to ask for an advice and some newbie questions?
If not, what list/forum would you recommend?

This is a good forum, especially for powerbooks and ibooks. Some other lists may be of use to you. They all are run by The Macintosh Guy in Portland as unmoderated lists. They are Mac OS X for Users, Mac OS X Newbies, and Mac OS X Applications. The X for Users list gets a lot of traffic volume, the others less so. Many of the usual suspects on this list show up on them as well.
<http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/X.html> will let you subscribe to any or all of the lists.
