I think all of you that have replied are using either Graphite, Snow or Airport Extreme base stations. I don't have one. I am using my G4 Sawtooth equipped with an original Airport card as a software base station. It works great, but I am still a little worried about the Airport Extreme compatibility when I get my new Powerbook or iBook. I guess at worst I will have to purchase a real hardware base station.I mix and match freely as well without a problem. I have an old Lucent 802.11b (Airport) card in my Lombard, a 3Com 802.11b card in my old Toshiba laptop, an original Airport card in my G4 desktop (Sawtooth) and an Airport Extreme card in my 12" G4, all connected to an Airport Extreme base station at home. My 12" G4 with AE also works perfectly on my friend's original graphite Airport network.
