Follow up question -- I have added an 1gb SODimm to the system, and while the memory manufacturer states compatibility with my iBook, the Apple iBook specs state 640 mb max. The spots probably started appearing well before the addition of the memory. Would sending in the iBook with the 1gb module void my warranty? Or would they not care? Should I remove it and send the ibook in with only 128 mbs?

Thanks,

Simon

I own a 933Mhz G4 14" iBook which I bought back in May 2004. Over
time, bright spots started appearing on the LCD. Nothing that
obstructs the function of the lappy, but it is quite distracting. I am
aware that this problem is common among Power books, but haven't heard
anything about it appearing in ibooks. While the ibook is still under
warranty, and I've purchased applecare, I don't really want to part
with my iBook for a week. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Or is
this an issue that only Apple Techs can handle?

Probably an issue that just Apple Techs can handle. If you don't want to
void your warranty, there is very little you can do yourself...
