My SO is trying to convince me to buy a *book for my bday. (he's a great guy). I do all the bills so of course I am money conscious.

I have a dual 1.42 desktop so I am not looking to replace that, but I would be replacing my Yikes! and 6500 with it. So power is not really an issue.

Current ibooks are $999. Our local Apple store has some of the 1.0ghz ibooks for $799.

I *believe* he said the older ones were 256mb/30gb which is the same as the current ones. Combo drives. I didn't ask about airport, oh, and iLife. I suppose those two features alone would be worth the extra $200

I was really hoping to find a 14" but I suppose in a pinch this would do, I would still do heavy editing on the 21" monitors attached to the tower.

I can't seem to find the specs on the older ones on the Apple site, any opinons on the price difference and airport/iLife?

Thanks! :)

Diane
