After a week or so of waiting, Earthlink finally responded to my e-mail

You guessed it ... precisely the same information I provided in my original
email.
I'm looking for a local DSL provider, not national, and definitely not one
which goes through Covad.
In defense or Earthlink, they do have a good PSDN (dial) service, either as a
primary service or as a backup service to their DSL service.
