Yeah, but its tricky. Sometimes they put a sticker on it with more detail.

There are some very strange chips on the market now.

One very innovative trick is to use so-called "converted" chips which makes
the mobo believe that the individual chips are actually lower density (some
mobos have a problem with the higher density chips).

I bought a pair of "converted" sticks for my early, 5 volt-only, FPM-only
PowerMacs. These were 128 MB sticks.

These worked perfectly in an Apple Network Server 700/200.

And in tests with a pair of conventional, "not converted" 128 MB sticks, and
the "converted" sticks, the ANS also worked perfectly.

(The ANS has an absolute maximum memory capacity of 512 MB and was apparently
designed with 64 MB conventional sticks in mind. The maximum complement of
four pairs of 64 MB sticks will give 512 MB. In this case "converted" sticks
won't help you get greater memory capacity).

And these "converted" sticks worked perfectly in a 7600 as well.

Sticks with "converted" chips are slightly less expensive than sticks with
conventional chips.

I obtained mine from OWC. About $45.95 per 128 MB stick.
