My two cents:
8 chips on each side of the Dimm = 16 chips. Each chip
contains 16 SDRAM devices so 16 x 16 = 256MB.
Please, someone, correct me or improve on the very
crude explanation.
It appears the Nec Dimms I got are made by a group
called Elpida Memory, Inc. (elpida-memory.com), and
Hitachi is involved.
