Just in case you're unaware of it, the AppleVision 1710 has an ADB cable
incorporated into the video cable. This isn't just an extension for the ADB
ports on the sides of the monitor, it also allows the monitor to
automatically calibrate itself in conjunction with the Monitors CP.
I have one connected to my Beige G3/MT. I'm at work now so I can't recall
the exact procedure but there should be an option in the Monitor Control
Panel, under Calibrate, to automatically calibrate the monitor for you. The
option (a button I believe) is only there if the Mac senses an AppleVision
1710 Monitor is connected (via the ADB cable). Once it finishes calibrating,
you can save your custom profile. You can also set the profile to
automatically update itself at preset intervals if you like.
You might want to search Apple's site to locate an owners manual for the
monitor. It may offer more details. This is a pretty unique monitor and
seems to be built especially for the graphics industry for use in color
critical environments. It's pretty neat.
