I also have the beige desktop 233, the very first one. I don't have a clue
about your problem but maybe you can help me with mine. Namely ram limits.
Apple specs say max ram is 192 MB. Most other sources say 384 or 768. I
suspect there were two 233 desktops made and the second could address more
ram. Anyway.....I have 256MB in one slot, and 32MB in each of the remaining
two slots which total 320MB, but only 192MB are recognized by the computer.
Is there a tweak or software that could get me all the ram I have installed.
Probably it would require a rom chip replacement, but I have looked
everywhere and have found no one wha has addressed this situtation (yet).
