I hope you mean 256meg and 768meg.

The mobo can accommodate three sticks of PC66/PC100/PC133 SDRAM, up to 256 MB
per stick, for a total of 768 MB, which is what the original writer stated.

My G3/300 Rev. 3b MT is so equipped.

The original writer is quite correct ... certain SDRAM will be counted as
one-half its actual capacity on these Beige machines.

My Rev. 3b machine read some no-name 256 MB SDRAM as 128 MB.

So, this fault is across all Beige machines, not just the infamous Rev. 1s.

The Apple online doc was written when Apple was supplying PC66 32 MB SDRAM
with its machines. Later, it supplied PC100 64 MB SDRAM. My machine was
originally supplied this way, and 3 * 64 MB is 192 MB.

But, the architecture of the Beiges ... all Beiges ... clearly will accept
many, but not all 256 MB SDRAM as 256 MB SDRAM.

Get the "right" 256 MB SDRAMs and your Beige, too, can be expanded to 768 MB.

I suggest that 650 MB of that 768 MB makes a good RAM disk for CD-ROM
mastering.
