I have a Mac - heavily upgraded 7500 - at home (I also have a Beige G3 that I need to re-load and get going). At work, my desktop is currently a ThinkPad with Windows NT. Soon to be a Dell GX180 with Windows 2000. I deal with NT and Windows 2000 on a daily basis. I also deal with Linux (on Intel platforms) and Solaris (on SPARC systems) as well. A lot of what I do now is network and system administration related for NT/2000/Linux boxes providing services in Data Communications. The general scientific user at the lab will likely have an Intel desktop running either Windows or Linux or dual-booting. Most scientific work is done under Linux. We also have big SUN and SGI systems for the scientific work and farms of 100s of PC running Linux for scientific data processing. Still some people, including scientists, use Macs as well - even though the Computing Division no longer supports Macs. We even still have a few systems running VMS.
