I know this more than anyone. I had PCs since I was 12 (a good 9
years) and everything i learnt there meant as soon as I got the
general idea of the ins and outs of Mac OS I was away. If I'd started
clean on Macs I might still be on my 7500 strugling with OS 8.1.
Instead I recognise all the things that keep a computer well oiled
(latest hardware and software etc.) because I know it all from hard
experience in PCs, which IMHO need to be much more up to date than
the average Mac to cope! Inversely I have only had a Mac for about 9
months and I have learnt as much as it took me 9 years to learn on
the PC (well not quite everything...) thanks to these lists. Also
using OS X has taught me as much about Unix as it has about my Mac. I
only last week used my newly found Unix nouse to go at Linux and get
my printer working. Shame I couldn't access it from OS X :(.
