I have tried three different optical mouses and I found all of them "clunky". Most recently, I got a G4 at work with Apple's optical mouse and I found it just wasn't as precise as a good old mouse with a ball. Yesterday at work I plugged in an old Logitech mouse and I could feel the difference right away.
