As far as Mouse mats go I still use one for my Optical Mouse. It's 
hard to get used to not having one and also my desk has a horrible 
paper veneer on it under a thin layer of varnish that is wearing off. 
I also find my hand sticks to my desk too. I want my Oak desk I use 
at my folks but it wouldn't fit in our car or my room!
