I'd be willing to test this out but I'm not quite with it. I'd be using
OSX on drive one, putting the second HD on the CD drive (and moving the
CD drive down one slot)? If it enables me to access both drives I don't
mind messing around like this, but only get half of what the plan is.

I've half a mind to just pay the extra $45 plus s/h to get the PCI card,
but don't mind messing around to see if stuff works or not. As long as I
know what I'm doing, naturally.

Try OS X - it enables the master/slave on the CD-Rom
bus (set the CD to master). Drawbacks - as reported on
G-List - the bus is slow (16.7 MB/sec) compared to the
IDE bus 0 (on the mob itself). I still don't see why
we can't extract the code enabling this feature -
unless it's OS X-only friendly. Plus, there is a flash
Rom update for OS X for the VST card.
