I read on the lowendmac site that if it says Rage Pro it will support a
second drive. And of course mine isn't one of those.

A Beige G3 motherboard which is equipped with an ATI Rage Pro video chip is,
by definition, a Rev. 3 motherboard. If this motherboard is also equipped
with a Rev. C ROM, then Slave drives are indeed supported on both EIDE buses.

What about adding an ATA PCI card? I read that this will allow 2 master and 2
slave drives. Will I still run into a problem?

No, Slave support has nothing to do with an add-on video card, or the
on-motherboard video chip, per se, it has solely to do with the ROM revision,
and only Revs. B and C support Slaves.

A Rev. 1 motherboard with a Rev. B or C ROM, which is NOT a standard
configuration, will support Slave drives, but there may be compatibility
problems, including, but not limited to the video chip support.
