Since a lot of people have been able to upgrade with few or no problems (I
had the prob I wrote about earlier but it took 5 min to fix) you may
unfortunately have some sort of corruption somewhere.  This is a strech but
you could backup your prefs and extentions and do a clean install of the
latest copy of MacOS you have and restore the old prefs and extentions on
the clean system.  Make any updates you need to after that (such as 9.1 or
9.2.1).  Then try to re-download the update and install it.

If the install fails after all this then you should address the fact that
your PowerMac might be haunted. ;-)

But seriously, if the Installer will not install 9.2.2 over a clean install
of the MacOS then there is something else wrong somewhere ... I would not
venture to guess what without more info though.
