I have a new QuickSilver G4 (OSX) with the iMic. I have had the same "sound overload" problem as well. This is a problem when trying to record from FM radio or playing a cd through the iMic into the Mac. Cassette tapes do not seem to exhibit this problem at all. I downloaded a program called Playthrough FX : http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=13963&db=mac This is probably just the utility you are looking for. It will allow you to adjust the input and output levels of your sound source (iMic), so there is no clipping of the audio signal. It's free too! :-) This program works at the same time as SPARKme, so you can control the signal while using a recording program. http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=12586&db=mac The only thing I noticed about Playthrough FX is that is has a buzzing when you first launch the program. After you adjust the input and output levels this goes away. Hope this helps.
