Hello Everyone, In addition to the CD-ROM already present in my Beige G3 MT, I am interested in installing an internal CD-RW drive and would greatly appreciate advice on selecting a suitable drive.
My first question: should I get an IDE or SCSI CD-RW writer? I can have up to 2 more IDE devices on my machine (it supports IDE slave/master drives), but if the internal SCSI bus is faster on these models I don't mind installing a SCSI burner. The second question: should the CD ROM from which I will read the disc to be copied have the same interface as the CD-RW, i.e., will there be less chance of buffer under-run if both the CD reader and writer are SCSI or IDE, as opposed to one SCSI device and one IDE device? The third question: any preference between Plextor or Yamaha? Are there any other makes that list members can recommend? My goal is to minimize system overhead so that I can burn CDs in the background while doing the usual tasks in the foreground, and not ruin too many CD-Rs. TIA.
