first, run norton or whatever on your drives.  second, check the drive
connections, third, carefully unplug and replug all of your cards and
memory.  it's probably the third thing, in which case you should also
visually check the connections and connectors for crud.  it may also be
the first, i.e. that the hard drives have problems, in which case you
may need to reinstall the software.  

i haven't been able to get 9.2.1 or 9.2.2 to work at all on my machine,
no matter what i do they insist on limiting my monitor to 640x480, and
even more odd is that it's sporadic on 9.2.1.  also, os x is up to 10.3
now, which might help with other problems and possibly the problem
you're having now.  i'm running a g4 gigabit ethernet, so i know my
hardware's recent enough, even has the latest firmware.
