I've been eyeing some pismos on ebay.  They don't sell for that much...some
go for around a thousand.  That's what I'd go for.  Either a pismo 400 or
500.  They have bigger screens than the iBook's base configuration and IMHO
look more professional :-)  They also have a 100mhz bus as opposed to the
66mhz bus on the 500mhz iBook.

On the other hand...if you don't mind the smaller screen and the slower bus
the iBook WOULD be a brand new shiny machine and would come with all the
amenities of a new computer.
