        I had this problem with a Quantum Atlas II 10k hard drive 
recently.  It has a set of two jumpers that cannot be removed. One of 
the jumpers locks it into SE (Single End Mode) so my guess is the 
hard drive was an early Atlas that was not Ultra 160 LVD capable yet?
