If you have a 3rd-party board, I'd try that to make sure, but it sounds like your on-board video just died.
You might try replacing the PRAM battery and reseating the AV personality card and resetting the motherboard (small round button by the PCI slots -- press and hold for approx. 30 sec). Failing that....it doesn't sound good.
