Well for me and my new G4 800, I think you have to have OS 9 and X on two
different drives to use the option key actually. Everytime I try it, I only
get one drive icon and it always starts on OS X. Have to actually set the
control panel to start from OS 9 to boot into 9..

Another new interesting hotkey a friend and I found last week...
Hold control-X while booting.. After a second, youll hear the startup chime
again kinda like you just zapped PRAM, then it will boot into OS X if you
were selected to boot into OS 9.. Think CMD+X works for this too..
