it's my understanding that most of the military's computer systems are
running nt, particularly the more critical ones and the ones that need
the most security, like most of their weapons control systems and
communications systems, systems that must work and must be secure during
a conflict.  i hope they are switching to macs, but given that many of
these systems are incredibly proprietary and the problems they have
convincing vendors, i suspect that our safety and security will depend
on windows nt systems working correctly for some time, this does not
fill me with confidence.

i think calling "plug and play", was a windows term, invented obviously
to describe what many mac systems have done for some time.  although
myself i always prefer to have a little more control over what drivers
and "handy" utilities are installed on my machine.
