Well, your mileage may vary, but I know seasoned Mac people on other lists that have
neither anti-virus software nor firewall on the computer! Simply because they are
using a Mac, and Macs aren't likely to be hit by a virus or a computer intrusion.
That's what they say.

Well, personally I haven't seen a Mac virus at close-hand since 1990, and I don't
think I've been hit with deliberate intrusion/attack since going on the Internet. I
bought NetBarrier (firewall) and VirusBarrier as a combo offer when installing my DSL
connection, to feel safe. Even if I could certainly live quite safely without the two
of them.

But NetBarrier (NB! I'm not bought by the manufacturer, I just like their product)
keeps me more protected, as this apartment keeps three computers, all connected to
each other and the DSL modem via the same hub. And it has speed gauges and gives a lot
of network info. Plus a banner filter, letting me surf the web with quite less
commercials around me. There are other banner filter solutions, but this is the best
I've seen so far.

My two cents
