I know we had a terrible time with 10.0 and the early iterations of
10.1 (I only got up to 10.1.2 before I sold my G3) with exactly the
Kernel Traps James S Jones described later in his post. I found out
they were related to the USB bus on the B&W G3 and it's funkyness. I
used to use several USB devices on a hub on my old B&W and it would
consistently crash like a plane with no wings when I unplugged the
hub. I just stopped unplugging stuff in the end but was a bit
hampered by the fact I was sharing my USB keyboard between my PC and
my G3.

I know the FireWire ports can occasionally be funky on a B&W as well
as the old Rev 1 ATA bug so I am lead to believe the logic board had
several flaws in. I am even, god forbid, lead to believe that the
relatively short life of the G3 B&W was due to the fact it was really
an active test bed for the G4s - what a horrid thing to say ;).
