Unfortunately, for those of us with older printers, 9.2.2 IS necessary. I've
got an Epson 1520, a perfectly FINE large format colour inkjet. I use 10.2
in everyday life. But because Epson has not provided a printer driver that
works with 10.2, I must print all my oversize work to pdf, switch to
classic, and print from adobe reader. No other choice...

And there are two apps that I use regularly that are not upgraded for OSX at
all. Pinful, but it makes 9.2.2 necessary.

Now about partitioning, I agree with you.
