i regularly totally cover my 1280*1024 desktop, sometimes bad enough
that i have to move things to better places just to get everything back
on screen. i've also burned backup cd's with it cluttered, and then
tried to use the cd on a friends smaller desktop. never had any crashes
that seemed related. traditionally having too many apps open can cause
problems, and possibly having too many windows open. if they occur
while you're browsing give your browser more memory in the get info box,
i usually netscape and give it several times what it thinks is optimal,
and i've heard the same about i.e. (ps, if you use i.e., get over to
microsoft, apparently they've patched a huge security hole that's been
there for at least 6 years, it seems it would take any certificate
without bothering to check it's validity when visiting "secure" sites,
no doubt this has been exploited before). what makes you think the
crashes and corruption are memory related? if they are it's most likely
poor cooling or dirty contact fingers on the ram. i'd suspect harddrive
corruption possibly. which os are you using? (sorry i only know about
9.1 and earlier).
