then something is definitely wrong with one of your favorite
applications or extensions etc.  that's a ridiculous number of crashes
even for a windows box!  you might occasionally select the "about this
computer" item from the apple menu and see if your' running out of
available ram.  it could also be some other application just needs to
have it's ram increased.  i've run os 7.5.5, 7.6, 8.1, 8.6, and 9 and
never had that kind of problem, and sometimes with very little ram even
for the machines involved.  of course it could also be a power problem,
possibly a radio interference problem, or something like that.  i'd also
check the ground connection, not having a good ground can make odd
things happen, particularly in combination with static electricity.
