Rich --- end of quote --- OK, here's an answer from: www.macbuyersguide.com/hardware/storage/SuperDrive.html *** Although Apple specifically disallows the use of iDVD with external DVD burners, it has been discovered that adding an aftermarket DVR-A03 or DVD-A04 to a Mac via an IDE connection allows the software to work correctly. The licensing issues surrounding such a scheme are a little hazy: we've heard it argued that any use of iDVD on any SuperDrive other than one shipped by Apple might contravene the license; however, Apple ships iDVD on the System Restore discs of even those G4 Macs without a SuperDrive, and an iDVD upgrade disc is available from the company for US$19.95. If this isn't fair enough licensing for you, the DVR-104 is compatible with Apple's DVD Studio Pro, Formac's Devideon Burner and Roxio's Toast 5 Titanium. ** I'd still love to talk to someone who's tried it.
