Kyle, I have lost data all over the place when I used to back up 
compressed files and likewise lost them (one time it was a 600MB 
archive of a 6GB hard drive -- my old Pismo). One year of data lost.

That and this Jaz drive has treated me well over the last few years. 
Some data is just not necessary to be placed on my server.
