No-one but then I don't work (yet) and I haven't been burgled yet. It's mostly a piece-of-mind thing but it's still a good idea. If not many people use it then god-damn, sorry - I DO! >> 2. My Zip100 disk have been dropped, thrown, kicked, beaten tapped on desk edges and not a single error. Even if a corrupt data are occurs you can sometimes format it out. If your CD-RW gets scratched up it's screwed and you have to buy another one. >> 4. I understand it's not as efficient as burning off a CD in 6 mins (in your case probably 1 min - I like DVDs and only have one CD bay) but non the less I have to invest zero capital in them as I ahve the drives and the disks already. When the drives pack up and the disks die in 2 years time then I'll consider that I no longer need support. >> It still doesn't mean I don't want support for them! > > I understand your point here, but you are comparing writing a 650mb > CDRW to > transferring 100 mb to a zip. An 8x4x12 CD-RW was 150 and had 1 CD-R with it. I was going to a University with Zip Drives. You do the math ;). >> Wise up. Different people live in different lives with different >> circumstances. OK, perhaps I was a little harsh, it was first thing in the morning. He's happy. Great :). I just invested 65 in a new DVD/CD-RW combo drive. I love it. Maybe I am switching slowly, the fact is however that i still use Zip disks. Supported Apple Machines have Zip drives, right up to this years models. Iomega should therefore still support the drives in the latest OS, to not do so would be tantamount to shooting themselves in the foot, if only on a small share of their market. > I understand that people will stick with what they know in this world > when > it comes to computers and data backup especially. I have lacked foresight on many occasions, don't worry :). You know I have burned 15 CDs since I got my burner. Maybe I should just throw all my perfectly good Zip disks in a bin someplace ;). -- Mark Benson AIM - SilValleyPirate Visit FlatPackMacs online: <http://fpm.gotdns.com> Mac LC Central -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
