<< My Question: Should I return my G4 450 upgrade and exchange it for a G3 533 at the same price? Am I just waisting my G4 with Altivec if I primarily use audio applications that don't work well with it? I also use i-net browsers, text editors, and occasionally photoshop. I don't use OS 10.2 much at all. >>
I would get the G3 because it sounds like something strange is going on with your G4 chip upgrade. I own a dp 450 which totally rocks and has no pops and clicks whatsoever at all no matter what I am doing. These processors really fly under OS 10.1.5 and I am sure even more so under Jaguar. But, if you had a choice between a single processor 450 G4 or a 533 G3, well then I would have to recommend going with the G3, the faster clock speed will probably make up for the lost Velocity Engine, (which wasn't working correctly anyway), and in the end you'll probably get more out of your Mac that way. regards, jc -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
