I have a Desktop Beige G3 233 (rev 2), 768MB Ram, 120GB and 40GB internal IDE hard drives (master/slave), TDK 40/12/48x CDRW, 6MB VRam, and OS 9.2.2
I recently upgraded my processor with a Zif G4 450 with Altivec/Velocity Engine support. When I use Powerlogix Altivec Enabler (in Extensions) with Logic Audio or iTunes I get pops and clicks. If I disable Velocity Engine support from within Logic the pops and clicks go away. iTunes deosn't seem to have a way to disiable Velocity Engine so the only way I can get the pops and clicks to go away is if I boot without the Altivec Enabler extension. Note: the pops and clicks show up in mp3's I've converted from AIFF with iTunes, and they go away when Altivec is disabled. My Question: Should I return my G4 450 upgrade and exchange it for a G3 533 at the same price? Am I just waisting my G4 with Altivec if I primarily use audio applications that don't work well with it? I also use i-net browsers, text editors, and occasionally photoshop. I don't use OS 10.2 much at all. Thanks -- Dennis [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
