I just got an OWC G4 533 to put into my beige MT. Rest of system is: OS 9.2.2 (I was waiting for the 533 to install Jag), 768meg, Radeon 7000, 2940U2b card driving a 9g SCA drive, CDRW, and orig CD and 6g HD.
Everything was running fine with the orig 266mhz. I put in the 533 and I get the following problem: With the ATI Resource Manager extention enabled, the system freezes when the first icon or 2 (it varies) appears on the desktop. If I disable the extention, I can use the Radeon. However it runs at about the speed of a 6100's video : P . If I use Extention Manager and start with all on , I get the freeze. If I use the 9.2.2 Base set, I get the freeze. If I use All Off (or start up with all extentions off), I get to the desktop just fine. and the Radeon works, just at the speed of my 6100. (this took me about 1 1/2 hours of restarts and renaming extentions to change load order to rule out most other choices) However, if I have all ATI extentions turned on but use the beige's on board video everything runs fine. I also tried downclocking the chip to 466 with no difference. Of course, I hadn't registered the Radeon yet (only got it on Tuesday) and ATI won't even give you the time of day if you haven't registered yet. Since I am now stuck until Monday before I can get some help from ATI, I thought I would throw this out to the group and see if anyone has any ideas.
