Well, that did it.  I pulled everything out but active system fonts and put
only tnr back.

It IMMEDIATELY looked fine.

So I slowly started putting back the rest of the fonts. I got farther and
farther through the list until I had put them all back and it was still
working.  I then restarted because I knew it was too good to be true.  But,
it's STILL WORKING.

I guess it just had a little air in the lines.  I have just moved EVERYTHING
including the system and prefs from my beige g3 to my iBook and this seems
to have been the only major problem. :)

I love macs. I'd like to see a windows computer do that...

I would also like to thank everyone who helped me out with this weird
problem.  I would have never thought that it could have been the other fonts
interfering.
