On rare occasions, OSX enables slave support on my Beige. There's a man on

OS X is able to overcome the deficiency in the Rev. A ROM because X is
superseding (or at least supplementing) the ROM functionality. This mechanism
was introduced with the "new world" Macs, namely the G3 B&W. In a "new world"
Mac, not all of the ROM functionality is in the ROM itself ... only the bare
minimum is. Most of the ROM functionality is in a file in the system folder
by the name of Mac OS ROM.

OS X has the capability to do very bad things to a Beige.

Should one or both of the EIDE channels disappear, or should certain device
types operate in only one position (Slave, e.g.) and not the other (Master,
e.g.), even though they did before, then you must *completely* reset the
Beige's PRAM.

To do so, execute the Cmd-Option-P-R sequence, holding the keys down for at
ten chimes.
