I had a completely dead iPod because I left it uncharged for a month. At first I thought I resurrected it but then it just died and wouldn't get charged and nothing would appear on the screen. I had to open it, disconnect the battery and leave it there for 10 minutes, connect the battery again and presto, it is now getting charged.
