This is interesting. I've had the experience of one of the motherboard ide
channels (twio dirves disappear entirely to os 9 but looked fine in X.  Tried
everything, then backed up and reformatted the drive.

This business of *complete* reset is strange to me.   Is techtool's pram Zap
less effective than ten keyboard resets?   What about hitting the reset button
on the motherboard?
