I've done some research, and find that a SCSI card I have available (not installed), the Adaptec 2940UW, is supported by Adaptec drivers only through OS 9.0.4...Anyone know of any hacks/drivers for this card, to get it working with newer OS?
The card I was using is an Adaptec 2940UB2...which I can't find listed by Adaptec or Apple, even though it has a sticker on it labelled Mac Apple. Is this known by another name, as an Apple specific OEM card? Same questions about driver updates/hacks...any out there?...and could this be why the system would hang up either part way through startup, because the ATA drive was running 10.2? And last, I also have an Iomega Jaz Jet PCI Ultra, which has an internal old style 50 pin plug, and an external 50 pin high density...anyone have any experience with this card on anything above OS 9.0.4? Frankly, I'm very unpleasantly surprised that Adaptec would simply abandon these cards, which aren't exactly ancient. Is ATTO better about long-term support...or is it all part of a conspiracy to force users away from SCSI, and into buying new drives? -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
