Marc --- end of quote --- Vuescan is excellent piece shareware (about $40 US) that I already own. There is an X version of it. It's considered the way to scan by the guys on the "filmscanner" mailing list who are interested in the best professional results. Ed Hamrick, who wrote it, tries to make sure it has drivers for just about every piece of hardware out there, flatbed and film scanner too. He keeps up with it and is quick to respond to questions too. It's a great peice of software, maybe a bit harder to learn to use than the dedicated commercial programs, but worth it. You are right.
