Yes, that's one of the disadvantages of these boards.  The system sees them as
scsi.  You can't just take a drive off the native ata bus and hang it on the ATA
card (not most of them anyway.)  You need to reformat it.   A bit time consuming
and messy.

By the way, with my Acard 133, iMovie playback through the camera isn't perfect,
even with the os9 system set up as minimal as possible.  (G3 minitower G4 zif,
combo usb and firewire pci board)  This is not true of the same drive on the
native ata bus.  Can't say why, since the drive tests as much faster on the 133
bus. Acard offers a slowdown utility for this but I haven't tried it.
