Aaron, try reading the past emails on this thread about how it is a list about computers based on Power Macs and Cubes based on G3/G4 processors and the short debate about whether that means we should exclude people wanting to know about non-Power Mac computers based on G3/G4 processors. And lighten up a little, this had been one of the better discussions on this list for a while.
While some what off topic most things discussed here can be found in Apple's TILs within a couple of minutes, so there is really no reason for most people to ask trouble shooting questions on here. That being what it is, it does make sense to discuss other things that are related [although peripherally] simply because list members are interested in them. Just as we help those who do not look up their answers else where so should we be polite to those that are interested in slight computer related off topic discussions. One could make the argument against this that list members are interested in things like skiing and food and this and that also but we can not discuss those here. This is true, but its an extremist argument, and it would be just as silly to force people to beg for a new list just to discuss passing curiosities about things like Lindows, this would be both impractical and a failure. Better to give people a little more leeway, its not like anyone was posting trolls about Windows superiority or anything. Respectfully, but tired of "lets complain about off topic computer discussion" posts, David On Monday, November 18, 2002, at 10:40 AM, Aaron Willems wrote: > Why are we even discussion this in here.
