First, I finally thought to compare the font settings on my machine with that on my G4 tower. Changfed a couple of settings, voila, speedy printing. (one setting was foreground printing. whaaaaa? never use foreground printing) The port I am using is ethernet. There is a parallel port on the Serial set of plugs (like a 50 pin SCSI port, but smaller) and the one on the option 2 card looks like a 25 pin scsi port.
