Is there a wireless solution for these machines? Wade, Mick has a good point. All of the wireless PCI cards that I've seen are for Windoze PC only. Only recently have I seen a couple vendors selling "wireless bridges" that work with Ethernet-equipped PCs and Macs (and some game boxes). One is from linksys: http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=432&grid=22 buy.com has it for under $100 (with a rebate), but you can get a heck of a lot of cat-5 Ethernet cable, plus a little 4-port hub for printers and such, for that same $100. Ideally, you would locate the DSL modem very close to one of the Macs, which eliminates the need for a wireless connection to that one. That leaves just one run of Ethernet cable to get to the other Mac (and reduces the necessity for a wireless solution). I've run Ethernet cable around a couple of houses we've owned (and phone line for a LocalTalk network before that), and it's not that bad. You can tuck it under the edges of carpeting, drill a couple of holes in inconspicuous places, like closets, etc. Right now I have 6 various Macs, 1 PC, 1 Ethernet-equipped laserprinter, and 1 LocalTalk-enabled inkjet printer (through a LocalTalk-to-Ethernet bridge), all connected to my cable modem through 3 small, cheap 4-port Ethernet hubs and a Netgear (wired) router. Works great. I just helped a friend set up a wireless router with a built-in 4-port switch for his G4. He didn't need it to be wireless right now, but before buying it I asked him if at some point in the near future did he see himself getting a PowerBook? He said yes, so we got him the wireless router so that he could use the PB anywhere in the house (when he eventually gets one). Right now the G4 is just hard-wired to the router, and we have the wireless part disabled for security. Unless you would have some really major, complicated problems running that one stretch of cable to your 2nd Mac, it's probably not worth trying to do it wirelessly, if it's even possible. Good luck!
