My concerns with sticking with a G3 upgrade (OWC, 333
Mercury with 1 MB L2 cache) was 1. heat; 2. power
supply - the beige is only 150 watts; 3. overclocking
was easy (now at 400 MHz, bus speed original);
4. cost - only 25% of a G4; 5. G4 native apps are few
and I don't use them (OS X is optimized for G4, but I
suspect only really true in 2003).
Cheers
George

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all
 thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with
 all thy strength, and with all thy mind;
 and thy neighbour as thyself."
